Once a person finishes the required ICF Coach training hours, ICF mentoring, and coaching experience, then the person files an application with ICF, and once the application is reviewed and approved, then the participant has to take the Coach Knowledge Assessment (CKA) exam. The exam is online and ensures that the participant has an understanding of the coaching domain.
The CKA is a tool that can be used to assess coaches’ comprehension of important coaching knowledge and skills. The CKA assesses coaches’ knowledge of the coaching body of knowledge, which includes the ICF definition of coaching, Core Competencies, and the Code of Ethics.
